Winston L. Fairfield, Jr., 75, a longtime resident of Brockton, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was the loving husband of Pamela J. (Tweddale) Fairfield for 53 years. He was the son of the late Winston L. and Anna N. (Jorgenson) Fairfield. Winston was born in Nashua, NH and raised in Wilmington, MA. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1959 and an inductee into the athletic hall of fame. Upon receiving an athletic scholarship, he played basketball for the Hoosiers at Indiana University as part of the Class of 1963. He was also a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Winston then went on to earn his Master's Degree in Education from Bridgewater State College.
Winston was a passionate and committed educator for 43 years with a love for history. He started his career as a teacher, guidance counselor and coach for Randolph Public Schools and moved into administrative roles as the Principal and Athletic Director at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham. He then was the Assistant Principal at Franklin Public Schools before taking the same position at East Bridgewater High School until his retirement in 2006. He was a proud member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
In addition to his wife, Winston is survived by his adoring children, Kelly A. Leonard and her husband John of Duxbury, Kim S. Kelley and her husband Charles of Dorchester and Craig M. Fairfield of Boston, as well as his grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan and Sarah Leonard and Devin, Rylie and Casey Kelley. He was the brother of Jon Fairfield of Bonita Springs, FL and Tana Lilienthal of S. Newfane, VT and is also survived by several nieces. Spending time with his family brought him the most joy.
Visiting hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday, August 6 from 2–5 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Winston's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
