William C. Washwell, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Wingate at Sharon Nursing Home in Sharon, after a period of declining health. He was the husband of 63 years of Barbara A. (Woodson) Washwell. Born in Boston, he was raised in West Bridgewater and Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston English High School. Mr. Washwell was a Veteran of the US Navy. He worked as a Technician at the Hingham Water Company in Hingham for many years, retiring over 20 years ago. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed golfing at Cedar Hill in Stoughton. Bill had earned several holes-in-one over the course of his golfing career. He was a life member of the VFW in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling to Twin River Casino with his wife every other day and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Washwell is survived by his children: Sharon L. Robicheau and her longtime companion Steven Wengler and William C. Washwell Jr. and his wife Cheryl A. Washwell all of Stoughton. He was the brother of the late John Washwell and Patricia McAuley and their surviving spouses Sharon Washwell of Bridgewater, formerly of Stoughton and Walter "Sonny" McAuley of Easton, formerly of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Grace Maguire and her husband Richard, William C. Washwell, III, Amanda Cusson and her husband Aaron, James Robicheau, Michael Robicheau and Aimee Robicheau. He also leaves his great grandchildren, Hannah, Kelsey, Ethan, Christopher, Elizabella and Ryder and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, April 20 at 8PM. Visiting Hours prior to the prayers from 5-8 PM.
