William F. McLaughlin, 86, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Anna "Joan" (Sugrue) McLaughlin. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Roxbury and attended Boston Trade School. Mr. McLaughlin was a Veteran of World War II of the Navy Seabees. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 57 years. Mr. McLaughlin was a member of Local 4 Heavy Equipment Operators in Boston and Medway for many years. He worked for Baker Paving for over 30 years and then worked for Todesca Corporation for over 10 years. He retired over 21 years ago. He was the founder and manager of the Golden Rays Drum & Bugle Corps in Stoughton in the 1960's & 70's. He also was the founder of All Town Taxi in Stoughton. He was a former member of the Stoughton Irish American Society, the American Legion and VFW all in Stoughton. He was a Jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family in his free time.
He is survived by his children Daniel R. "Dinny" McLaughlin and his wife Kathy and William F. McLaughlin and his wife Ayapina all of Stoughton and Anne Marie Fuoco of Wareham. He is survived by his 8 grandsons, Paul, Christopher, Patrick, Billy, Michael, Kevin, Robert and Chaiwat and 7 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Myrtle (Clark) McLaughlin and 8 brothers and sisters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, December 15, at 10:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 12 Noon. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
