William J. McCabe, Jr., 80, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Friday, November 11. He was the husband of Ann D. (Doucette) McCabe for 50 years. Born in Wellesley, he was educated at Wellesley High School, UMass-Amherst and Boston University. Mr. McCabe was a resident of Stoughton for 45 years. He was an U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was a Construction Engineer for the Massachusetts Highway Department for 53 years before retiring in 1999. Mr. McCabe received the Construction Industries of Massachusetts Person of the Year in November, 2000. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. Mr. McCabe was a member of the Sharon Country Club and the American Legion in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McCabe is survived by his sons, Michael C. McCabe of Southampton, Daniel C. McCabe and his wife Christine of W. Bridgewater and William K. McCabe and his wife Lan of E. Bridgewater, as well as his grandchildren, Drake, Colby, Marissa and Patrick McCabe and his sister, Elaine Kleindl of IL.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. Donations in William's name may be made to the American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
