William F. MacKenzie, 80, a longtime resident of Raynham, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a long illness. He was the devoted and loving husband of 49 years of Patricia E. (Ruane) MacKenzie. Born in Boston, to the late William and Amelia (Morse), he was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston Schools. He was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. MacKenzie was a resident of Raynham for over 35 years, previously living in Easton and East Bridgewater. He worked as a Machine Operator for Continental Baking Company in Natick for18 years and retired from Plymouth Rubber in Canton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Canton. An animal lover, as a young man he owned racehorses. Recently, Mr. MacKenzie enjoyed donating his time as a volunteer driver for chemotherapy patients. He was active at the VA Hospital in Brockton, and was a parishioner of St. Ann's Church in Raynham and the Lasalette Shrine in Attleboro. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling to Foxwoods and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Kathleen M. O'Kane and her companion Robert Schreck of Marshfield, William J. MacKenzie and his companion Melissa Witkus of Taunton, Heather R. Santos and her husband Paul of Berkley and Heidi R. Still and her husband Dan of Middleboro. He was the brother of Mary Messina of OK, Cecelia Deneau of OH, Alexander MacKenzie of ME, John MacKenzie of Rockland, Margaret McCarthy of NH, Duncan MacKenzie of Easton, and the late Joseph MacKenzie, Loretta Robicheaud and Christina Petrangelo. He was the grandfather of Christopher and Kimberley O'Kane, William F. MacKenzie III, Erin and Max MacKenzie and Mackenzie Still. He was the great grandfather of Kayleigh DeLuca and Paige MacKenzie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, April 26 at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Easton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
