William L. Lorenz, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving daughters. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Bond) Lorenz. Son of the late Martin and Ottilia (Wenzler) Lorenz, he was born in Boston and raised in Roslindale. Bill was a graduate of BC High School, Class of 1949 and College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1953. He earned his Master's Degree in Education from Boston State College in 1954. He resided in Stoughton since 1960. Mr. Lorenz was a teacher in the Newton Public Schools System for 38 years. Upon his retirement he was a substitute teacher for Canton Public Schools. He was a member of both the National Council Teachers of Mathematics and the Knights of Columbus in West Roxbury and was a volunteer with the Chernobyl Project in Canton.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Ann M. Lorenz of Norton, Karen B. Ewing and her husband Scott and Janice M. Bowers and her husband Philip all of Easton, Patricia E. Schlottman and her husband Arnie of Gypsum, CO and Paula J. Bissonnette and her husband Lee of Fairhaven, as well as his grandchildren, McKenna Ewing, Nicholas and Caroline Bowers and Ava and Carlee Bissonnette. He was the brother of the late Edward and Richard Lorenz, Helen Duggan and Dorothy Griffin and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
