William H. "Harry" Lingley, 96, died at Baypointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brockton on Saturday, April 5 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Catherine F. (Nesdale) Lingley. Born in Canada, he was educated in Cambridge schools. He was a resident of Stoughton for 56 years. Mr. Lingley was the owner of Murphy Transportation Co. in Stoughton for many years before retiring. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed working at Raynham-Taunton Dog Track after his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lingley is survived by his daughters, Dorothy M. Dias of Tewksbury, Joan M. Bowker of Marshfield, Patricia J. Reddington of Boston and Catherine Rudolph of W. Bridgewater. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara J. McSweeney.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, April 9 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. Donations in Harry's memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
