William R. Kearney

William R. Kearney, Sr., 85, a resident of East Bridgewater, died at home on Monday, December 16. He was the husband of Joan A. (Brown) Waugh Kearney and the late Rita M. (Trainor) Kearney. Born in Somerville, he was raised and educated in Charlestown and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Mr. Kearney was a Technician 5th Grade in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of World War II. He was a resident of Stoughton for 38 years before moving to East Bridgewater 9 years ago. William was a security guard for the City of Boston at Long Island Hospital for over 30 years before retiring in 1992. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed golf, trivia and American history.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kearney is survived by his children, Lynne Howell and her husband Allan of Carver, Karen Luckraft and her husband James of Midlothian, VA and William Kearney, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Brockton. He was the grandfather of Megan Ieronimo, Neil Howell, Timothy Kearney, Brittany Bohn and Danielle Luckraft and great-grandfather of Jack Ieronimo. He was the brother of the late John and Henry Kearney. He is also survived by his extended family, Pamela Johnson, David Waugh, Sandra MacKay and Linda Waugh.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, December 20 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in William's memory may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N.
