William L. Johnson, 85, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 60 years of Mary E. (Cobb) Johnson. Born in Brockton, he was raised and educated in Middleboro. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Middleboro High School and Bentley School of Accounting. Bill was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a resident of Stoughton and formerly lived in Florida for many years. Mr. Johnson worked as an accountant for New England Telephone, retiring over 26 years ago. He was a longtime member of Sharon Country Club and the West Stoughton Civic Association. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Stephen M. Johnson and his wife Christine of TX, Lynda B. Locke and her husband Alan and Robert A. Johnson all of Stoughton and Karen M. Johnson of Taunton. He was the brother of the late Phyllis Farley and is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral Service will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior to the service from 9-10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Canton Corner Cemetery, Canton. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
