William "Wildman" Homer, 56, lost his battle with cancer on November 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was the husband of Deborah J. (Haffermehl) Homer. Bill was born and raised in Canton and was a graduate of Canton Schools. He lived in Houston, Texas for a few years before settling in Stoughton, where he has lived for the past 15 years. He worked for several area companies before pursuing his dream of owning and operating his own truck, which he did for many years. He was a member of the Amvets Post 1977 of Stoughton, MA. In his free time, Bill loved camping, fishing, hunting and working in his yard.
In addition to his beloved wife of 36 years, he is survived by his two sons Matthew J. Haffermehl of Rockland, MA and Ray A. Homer of Stoughton. He was the brother of Robert Homer and his wife Rosie of NH and Barbara Homer of Canton. Bill was the grandfather of Mariah Gamble, Owen and Michael Haffermehl and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Visiting Hour will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM. Bill will be laid to rest at the Knollwood Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
