William F. Harmon, 85, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury. He was the husband of Carol A. (Girard) Harmon and the late Dolores (Inners) Harmon. Born in Albany, NY, he was educated in Dedham and was a graduate of Norfolk Agricultural High School. Mr. Harmon was a Veteran of the US Navy, where he spent over 25 years of dedicated service, serving in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Navy, he started Harmon Opticians in Stoughton, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Harmon continued his studies at Massasoit Community College where he was awarded his Associates Degree in nursing and became Registered Nurse at age 69. He was a longtime member of the Stoughton VFW and Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton where he was a member of the vestry and was a Eucharistic Minister. He was the Past King Lion of the Stoughton Lions Club. Mr. Harmon was a longtime summer resident of York, Maine. An accomplished handyman, in his free time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill was the father of Larry Harmon of Stoughton, William F. Harmon of Florida and the late Pamela J. Catanazaro. He was the stepfather of Theresa Kearney of Hawaii, Michael Kearney of Halifax, MA and the late Karen Kearney. He was the brother of Nathaniel R. Harmon of AZ, David S. Harmon and Hobart T. Harmon both of NH, Holly R. Chick of Easton and Wendy MacDonald of CA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner St., Stoughton, 02072 on Saturday at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday from 4-7 PM. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church at the above address.
