William P. Flaherty, 57, died Friday, October 27, 2017, after heroically battling cancer to spend as much time as possible with his wife, family and friends. He was the beloved husband of 24 years of Denise (Jackson) Flaherty. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School, class of 1978 and of Bentley College, Class of 1982. He was a longtime resident of Stoughton and previously lived in California for several years. He worked as a Software Engineer for Raytheon for over 27 years in several locations locally and in California. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a dedicated husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He cherished most spending time with his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife Denise, he is survived by his siblings; Carol A. Larsen of FL, John F. Flaherty of MI, Raymond Flaherty of Brockton, Patrick J. Flaherty of Provincetown, his twin brother Robert Flaherty of Quincy, and Elizabeth A. Hanley of N. Andover. Bill was the son in law of Joan and Harry Jackson of Stoughton. He was the friend and brother in law of Steven Tinglof of Raynham, Paula Tinglof and Lynne Jackson DaRos both of RI, Michele Jackson Gildea of Easton, Michael Jackson and David Jackson both of Stoughton and the late John Tinglof. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Mary (Trasky) Flaherty. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton, on Friday at 9:15AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-8 PM.
