William J. Cronin, 82, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 62 years of the late Alice M. (Stevens) Cronin. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Dorchester before graduating from Jamaica Plain High School, Class of 1947. He was a resident of Stoughton for 40 years and previously lived in Brookline for over 25 years. Mr. Cronin served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a partner of the Forest Floor Division of Maltby Company for 20 years before being starting his own company, BMB Logging where he worked for over 20 years. After his retirement, he worked as the Ranger at Cedar Hill Golf Course in Stoughton for many years. He was an avid golfer. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and watching birds in his bird feeders.
Mr. Cronin was the father of Donna M. Genovese and Carolann Jacobs both of Stoughton, Robert W. Cronin of Norton and the late Michael R. Cronin. He was the brother of Barbara Mongan of FL, Virginia Hartunian of CA and the late Elizabeth Lleydon. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 3-7 PM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
