William K. Chestnut

William K. Chestnut

William K. Chestnut, 86, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, March 25. A lifelong resident of Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School and captain of the football team in 1938-1939. Mr. Chestnut was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of World War II. He was an auditor for Shawmut Mills in West Bridgewater for 62 years before retiring in 2001. He was a Scout Master in the 1940's and a member of Stoughton Fish & Game for over 50 years. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and gem and rock collecting.

Mr. Chestnut is survived by his children, Vincent P. Chestnut of NH, Edward A. Chestnut of NJ and Nancy A. Chestnut of CA, as well as his grandchildren, Teddy and Ellie Chestnut. He was the brother of the late Dr. Alphonse Chestnut. He is also survived by his dear friend, Dolores McDermott of Stoughton.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 28 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-7 PM. Donations in William's memory may be made to Mass. Commission for the Blind, 48 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
