William J. Angelos

William J. Angelos, age 80 of Stoughton has passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2018, with his family by his side. He was the husband of 59 years of Beverly A. (Kaspar) Angelos. Bill was born on 4th of July in Stoughton. He lived and worked in the town of Stoughton his entire life. He attended Stoughton Public Schools and studied the trade of plumbing at Boston Trade High School. After his graduation in 1958, he attended the Old Colony Trade School and, after several years, he passed the state exams to receive his journeyman and master licenses in plumbing. During his high school years he met his sweetheart and also joined the National Guard Reserves of which he was a member for seven years. At that time, he worked for his father, builder, Ted Angelos and also plumber Sam DiNolo. A few years later, he and Beverly married and Bill was busy working in the trade and raising four children. In 1976, Bill took over full ownership of the business under the name of DiNolo & Angelos & Sons, Inc, until his retirement in 2006. During those years he conducted a successful plumbing business and was well-known in the town. The business is now owned and operated by his son Scott under the name of Angelos Plumbing Heating. Bill also worked as an assistant plumbing inspector for 30 years in Stoughton. In 2006 he became the plumbing and gas inspector for Stoughton until October 3rd, 2018.

He loved Stoughton and spent many years in active participation with government, community and youth organizations. He was a team sponsor for Stoughton Little League and Stoughton Youth Soccer for 20 years and was actively involved for many years as an officer in the Stoughton Rotary Club and served as club president for two years. Bill was the recipient of the Paul Harris follow Award for his contribution to Rotary.

Bill or "Uncle Billy" as some called him, was a member of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, Order of the Stoughton Sons of Italy, Bondholder and Past Vice President of CW Welch Memorial Fish and Game and the Easton Rod & Gun Club. He was affiliated with the South Shore Plumbers & Contractors Association of which he was Past President. A member of various town committees, Bill was chairman of the Stoughton Planning Board from 2000 to 2009 and was currently involved as vice-chair, also a town meeting rep for 10 years and chairman of the Stoughton Cedar Swamp Committee for three years and more recently a member of the Stoughton Master Plan and Friends of Stoughton Center.

A few weeks every year he and his wife would vacation at their condo in Marco Island, Florida. Occasionally, he would spend a few days at his summer home in Wareham. An Alaskan cruise in 2002 was Bill's most memorable vacation. Snowmobiling and hunting were Bill's sporting interest. He and his family would snowmobile the trails and Pittsburg, NH. Every November he would travel to Maine to deer hunt. During the Blizzard of 1978, Bill and his son Scott volunteered to help out the Civil Defense for days and nights. They drove their snowmobiles delivering medical supplies and food to those in need. Nurses and aides were transported to and from work, people were driven home from the Westwood Railroad Station.

Bill loved the New England Patriots and would never miss watching their games. He was a lover of dogs and owned several over the years. He enjoyed watching T.V. Western movies especially John Wayne. In his earlier years, his favorite pastimes were playing poker and cribbage with his friends and attending his children's sport events. In recent years, he would meet with Stoughton townies to have breakfast every Saturday morning. Bill's amicable demeanor and dry humor were unforgettable. If you met him once, you remembered him.. He was always completely attired in black and wore a black Greek fisherman hat cap. He was proud of his grandchildren who adored their "Papa". He enjoyed the moments with them especially at the summer cookouts and family holiday gatherings.

He will be greatly missed by his family, town hall workers, many townie friends and his dog Handsome. Every Christmas Bill would give each female town hall employee a box of chocolate. He had a big heart!!!

Bill was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (DiGangi) Angelos and leaves behind his wife, Beverly (Kaspar) Angelos of 59 years and four children: Scott W. Angelos and his wife Mary (McKay) Angelos , Mark J. Angelos, Jeffrey S. Angelos and wife Lisa (Rosenberg) Angelos and Kimberly Keramati and her husband Shayan all of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Jacqueline, Jessica and Tiffany Angelos and Tristan Keramati and Great-Grandfather of Dakota. He was predecreased by his twin sister, Theresa Leonard and is survived by his sister, Patricia Marotta and her husband Ronald of Middleboro and his brother, Ted "Champ" Angelos and his wife Barbabra of Falmouth and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother in law Roy Leonard of Stoughton.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte 27) Stoughton on Monday, January 7, 2018 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-6 pm. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
