Wilfred R. Caron, 82, died at the Orchard Cove Retirement Community in Canton, MA on Saturday, January 25. He was the husband of Anne T. (Flanagan) Caron. Son of the late Joseph W. and Eva (Berube) Caron, he was born and raised in Queens, NY. Wilfred attended St. Francis College in New York before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a 2nd Lieutenant and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Army, he graduated from St. John's University School of Law in New York. He resided in Canton, MA for the past 2 years after living in Little Compton, RI for 16 years. Prior to that, he resided in Scarborough, NY and Washington, DC.

As an attorney, Wilfred held General Counsel and other senior positions for major public and private entities. In particular, he was General Counsel for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and Associate General Counsel for the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). He retired in 1991. He was a member of the VFW in Rhode Island and enjoyed writing and religious studies.

Wilfred was the brother of the late Roland E. Caron and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, January 30 from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 11 AM. Interment with Military Honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilfred's memory may be made to Catholic Relief Services, PO Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21297-0303(www.crs.org) or Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27106, New York, NY 10087-7106 (www.mskcc.org).
