Wayne A. Gill, 77, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Davis) Gill. Born in Brockton, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. He also attended Wentworth Institute. Wayne worked as Machinist at Gill Machine in Stoughton, where he was also part owner. After his retirement from Gill Machine, he worked at Zildjian Company in Norwell for several years. He later worked for Meals on Wheels in Stoughton for 3 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed wildlife, country fairs and NASCAR racing. Mr. Gill was a lover of the environment and loved bluegrass music. He was a skilled woodcarver of birds and animals and a member of the New England Woodcarvers since 2007. In his free time, he enjoyed helping out at the Amvets in Stoughton and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Gill is survived by his daughter Elizabeth M. Gill of Stoughton, and his son, Jay L. Gill and his wife Martha of Falmouth. He was the grandfather of George Reade, Samantha Gill and Cassandra Gill. He was the brother of Leslie Gill of Stoughton and the late John "Jack" Gill. He is also survived by his sister in law Carol Gallison of Stoughton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Wayne's memory may be made the Meals on Wheels, Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland St., Canton, 02021.
