Warren F. Batchelder, 94, died on Sunday, February 3, 2019, after a period of failing health. He was the longtime partner of Martha Jordan of Hill, NH. Born in Brockton, he was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1942. Mr. Batchelder was a resident of Stoughton for many years before moving to Hill, NH over 40 years ago. He was a World War II Veteran of the US Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant and served in Italy, the North Appenines and Po Valley Campaigns. He worked as a builder in the area for many years. While living in Stoughton, he was a member of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Stoughton. He was an active outdoorsman and conservationist who loved nature and gardening. While in New Hampshire, he was the Volunteer Fire Warden of Hill, NH and, at age 78, oversaw the addition to the Hill Town Hall. He was also a volunteer firefighter and along with Martha, planted the town flowers for many years. He was a member of the Mattamiscontis Hunting & Fishing Club in Maine. Warren was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Mr. Batchelder was the father of Dana W. Batchelder and his wife Catherine of East Bridgewater, Lisa E. Arch and her husband Michael of Florida and the late Susan D. Cayer and her late husband Gilbert L. Cayer. He was the brother of Charles Batchelder of Middleboro, Barbara Clifford and Evelyn Buschenfeldt both of Mashpee and the late Richard Batchelder and Phyllis Conrad. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Tuesday, February 12 at 12 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 10 AM – 12 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Warren's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
