Walter H. Mark, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at his home on Thursday, October 23, 2014, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Gladys M. (Melzar) Mark. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1955. Mr. Mark worked as a custodian at the West School in Stoughton for many years, retiring 1995. He was a member of the Rising Star Masonic Lodge in Stoughton and the Orient Masonic Lodge in Norwood for many years and a former member of the Eastern Star in Stoughton. He was also a member of the Aleppo Shrine, Scottish Rite and York Rite. Mr. Mark was a volunteer at the Shriners Hospital in Boston for several years and also was a volunteer driver for the Stoughton Food Pantry. In his free time, he enjoyed tending his tropical fish, attending car shows and spending time with his family.
Mr. Mark is survived by his children, Gladys M. Joyal of Taunton, Ginnie L. Teed of Raynham, Patricia A. Robinson of Carver, Daniel W. Mark of Easton, Laura J. Hrasok of NH and Bonnie G. Hickey and Walter H. Mark, Jr. both of Stoughton. He was the brother of Elizabeth H. "Betty" Cummings of Stoughton and the late Charles J. Reilly. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner St., Stoughton on Wednesday, October 29 at Noon. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Walter's memory may be made to The Shriners Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, 02114.
