Walter J. Gilmartin

Walter J. Gilmartin, 78, died at the Copley at Stoughton on Monday, November 28 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Frances E. "Fran" (MacLellan) Gilmartin. Born in North Quincy, Mr. Gilmartin was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1945. He attended Northeastern University before graduating from Bentley College in Waltham in 1961. He was a resident of Stoughton for 44 years. Mr. Gilmartin was an U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was an accountant and owner of Gilmartin & Associates in Stoughton for 40 years before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the National Society of Public Accountants. In his free time he enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Gilmartin is survived by his sons, Richard J. Gilmartin and his wife Linda of FL and Ronald J. Gilmartin and his wife Nancy of CA, as well as his granddaughter, Alianna and his brother, Edward H. Gilmartin of CA.

Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 5-8 PM. Interment will be private. Donations in Walter's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., 36 Cameron Ave, Cambridge, 02140-1102.
