Walter A. Fredericksen, 95, a longtime resident of Stoughton, Mass, died peacefully at the Baypointe Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, April 7, 2017. He was the husband of the late June (Swede) Fredericksen. Walter was born in Boston in 1922, and graduated an accomplished athlete from Commerce High School in Boston. A WWII veteran, he served with the US Navy stationed in Africa during the war. After the war, he embarked on his life long career with the Massachusetts State Police. Serving in many roles, from trooper to a detective with the Crime Commission, a new department out of the State House to fight organized crime. Finally, he retired as a Lieutenant with the State Police. Upon retirement, he established his own security and detective business which thrived for many years, Statewide Security of Boston. A natural leader, he was very active in the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, serving for years as member and ultimately as Chairman of the Board. In his spare time, he loved, painting, gardening, spending time with his family and taking trips and cruises with his beloved wife June. Through it all, he walked with dignity, integrity and love and he leaves a footprint on the hearts of so many that have loved him.
Walter is survived by his children; Karen Blackwelder and her husband Mark of FL, Gary Fredericksen and his wife Terri of VA, Diane Cidado and her husband Cid of Easton and Peter Fredericksen and his wife Anne Marie of West Bridgewater. He was the brother of the late Roy Fredericksen and is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and two nephews.

Funeral will be held in the First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton, on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7 PM in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Route 27) Stoughton, MA 02072. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
