Walter H. "Wally" Bamberg, 96, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Monday, February 24, 2020. He was the loving husband of Doris E. (Johnson) Bamberg for 68 years. Son of the late Charles H. and Clara (Sandusky) Bamberg, he was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston English High School, Class of 1940 and attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Wally was a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Forces and a Veteran of World War II, where he was a tail gunner on a B-25 medium bomber in the Pacific Theater. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1954. Wally was a field engineer for many years, working for Sealtest Ice Cream, Arthur D. Little, MIT Lincoln Lab and retiring from Helix Tech in 1986. He also had 4 patents for cryogenics. He was a member of Sharon Country Club and enjoyed playing golf and traveling, in particular on 18 cruises.
In addition to his wife, Wally was the father of the late Walter H. Bamberg, Jr. and Eric Nils Bamberg. He was the brother of the late Charles Bamberg and Bertha M. Davidson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, March 11 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in Wally's memory may be made to First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
