Virginia M. "Tippy" (Doran) Dempsey, 89, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 4. She was the wife of the late Richard H. Dempsey. Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School and Boston Clerical School. She was a resident of Stoughton for the past 56 years. Mrs. Dempsey was a stenographer at the Office of Personnel Management with the Federal Government in Boston for many years before retiring in 1979. She was known for her great outlook on life and sense of humor. She enjoyed scrabble, crossword puzzles, reading, travel, entertaining and especially spending time with her family.
Mrs. Dempsey is survived by her children, Deborah A Dempsey of S. Easton and Richard H. Dempsey, Jr. of Stoughton, as well as her grandchildren, Amy Tarani of Medford and Kristen Berg of Norton and her 4 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Eileen P. Campbell of Stoughton and the late Jean M. Rose. She was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews and a lifelong friend of the late Margaret Chierus.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 10 at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 12 Noon. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
