Virginia H. (Horan) Callahan, 83, of Stoughton, formerly of Hyde Park, died peacefully Saturday October 12, 2013 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital ? Needham. She was married to the late Thomas F. Callahan, Jr.
Born in Boston, Virginia graduated from Framingham State College with a degree in Home Economics. Virginia worked as a House Mother for the Nazareth Childcare Center in Jamaica Plain and as a telephone operator for the Deaconess Glover Hospital in Needham. Virginia enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching her soaps, entertaining and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Theresa Casey and her husband Sean of Stoughton. She was the sister of the late John Horan, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Owen and Edward Horan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her dear friend Colleen Tallent of South Boston and her lifelong friend Irma Rosenfield of Israel.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Burial will be private. Donations in Virginia's memory may be made to the Dialysis Department, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
