Vincent F. "Rocky" Santarpio, 97, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at his home after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 71 years to Grace M. "Midge" (Cecchini) Santarpio. They could always be found on Saturday nights dancing with "the gang" at the Dante Club in Sommerville. Born and raised in Roxbury, he attended Roxbury schools. He had been a resident of Stoughton since 1962. Mr. Santarpio was a Teamster who worked as a Truck Driver at National Uniform for 33 years. Following his retirement as a Truck Driver, he worked for Santilli Motors and later Copeland Toyota in Brockton, finally retiring at age 90. He was a "Jack of all Trades" with a unusually strong work ethic, who loved gardening, mowing his lawn, and tending to his yard. He insisted, "wine and garlic kept me young." Rocky also loved sharing a drink with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Donna Santarpio of Taunton, Shirley Fugate of Norton, and Richard Santarpio and his wife Laurie of Hudson. He was the beloved grandfather of Jesse Fugate, Jake Fugate, Gina Santarpio, and Matthew Santarpio. He was the brother of Frankie Santarpio of Somerville, Dolly Sico of Quincy, Vivian Brown of Franklin, and the late Henry "Eddie" Santarpio, Romeo Santarpio, Guy Santarpio, Freddie Santarpio, Anna Camillo, Julia Falzarano, Pauline Egidio and Rosie Spacco. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours are Monday from 4-8 PM at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton. Funeral Prayers will be offered at the Farley Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10:30 AM after which interment will take place at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
