Vincent Sisto Maraglia, Jr., 73, died at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home on Sunday, September 17 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Hyde) Maraglia. A lifelong resident of Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School and was a member of the football team and wrestling team. He also played semi-pro football and wrestled in charity events. Mr. Maraglia was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the Army he joined the National Guard and was activated during the school integration era in Boston. Mr. Maraglia was a Foreman and Heavy Equipment Operator with the Stoughton DPW for 26 years before retiring in 1987. For many years he was a Working Special Police Officer with the Stoughton Police Dept. He also was a Corrections Officer at MCI Norfolk. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1645 in Stoughton and the American Legion Post 24 in Canton. He was Past Grand Knight and life member of the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council 200 in Stoughton. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, daughter and friends and painting.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Maraglia is survived by his daughter, Gina M. Maraglia of New Bedford and his sister, Barbara A. Lombardi of Walpole. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles J. Maraglia. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, September 20 at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 12 Noon. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
