Valerie (Lebedew) Samaha, 79, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at her home in Stoughton. Of Russian descent, she was born on a train while en route to her new home in Austria. Daughter of the late Savely and Zinaida (Kurchinsky) Lebedew, she was raised in Austria and came to the United States as a teen and settled in Boston with her family. She was a graduate of Boston Schools in the 1960's. Valerie proudly became a United States Citizen in 1965. Val, as she was lovingly known, was a resident of Stoughton for the past 24 years, previously living and raising her family in Randolph. She was a dedicated single mother who worked for Putnam Investments handling financial accounts for many years and would often take on various part time jobs as well to make sure her family was provided for. She retired from all many years ago. Val loved cruising to tropical beach locations and traveling to see the world. She was an accomplished cook who enjoyed trips to Plainridge and Twin River to play the slots and also enjoyed reading, baking, crocheting and tending to her flowers. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Val is survived by her two children, Laura J. Howe and her husband Robert and Michael J. Samaha, all of Stoughton. She was the sister of the late John, Alexander and Michael Lebedew and is also survived by her brother William Lebedew of Dighton. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Lisa Aspinwall, Linda Lebedew and Joyce Lebedew and the great aunt of Erin Grous, William Olsson and Cameron Olsson.
Her incomparable sense of humor will be missed by all.
Intimate private Family Services were held.
