Tiberio V. "Tibby" Cunha, 81, died Wednesday, September 23, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of the late Lorraine F. (Silvia) Cunha. Born in Fall River, he was a graduate of the Allen School of Aeronautics in 1950, attaining his Aircraft and Engine Mechanics license. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1965. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. Tibby was a member of the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, Local 6 for more than 40 years. He was also the apprentice instructor for those 40 years, never missing one day of work. After enjoying his livelihood and a successful career, he retired at the age of 65. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends and spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons, whom he loved dearly. Tibby was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, where he volunteered as an usher for the 8AM Mass for many years. A loving husband, father & friend, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son Stephen A. Cunha and his wife Darlene (St. Jean) Cunha of Bridgewater. He was the brother of Antone "Tony" Cunha of Fall River and the late Julieta "Julie" Costa. He is also survived by his grandsons Brendon, Jonathon and Christian Cunha all of Bridgewater and his nephew Michael Cunha of Fall River. He was son of the late Antonio J. and Sizaltina (Vivieros) Cunha and the son-in-law of the late Evelyn Sylvia.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, September 26 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
