Thomas W. Tucker, 80, husband to Karen R. (Plapis) Tucker of Stoughton passed away on Friday after a long period of declining health on Friday.
Born and raised in Quincy, Tom was a graduate of Quincy High School in 1954, and Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1956. He was employed as an architect at Charles T. Main in Boston for over 30 years. Tom was an excellent golfer. He also enjoyed watching and playing many sports with his children, grandchildren and friends. Tom was an avid fan of Boston sports. He was lucky enough to see each of his teams win a championship, despite being personally responsible for the curse known as the "Tucker Whammy". Tom was forbidden by his family from watching the 2004 World Series. He was an insatiable "putskier" around the house, always building and fixing things whether they were broken or not. In his final months he enjoyed gardening, unauthorized painting in the middle of the night, and he rearranged the patio pavers at his daughter's home several times. He was a skilled craftsman and his talents will be greatly missed.
Tom was a devoted husband and family man throughout his life. He loved watching and cheering for his children and grandchildren through the years. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Joanna J. Morganelli, her husband Ronald of Hanover, David W. Tucker, his wife Natalie of Quincy, and Elise T. Palmer and her husband Lawrence of Sagamore Beach. He was predeceased and will be welcomed by his beloved son Charles C. Tucker. Tom is the adored "Grampy" of Nicole, Zachary, Kelsey, Jillian, Ryan, Aliyah, William, Dylan, and Alexandra. He will soon be a great-grandfather to Owen Tucker Livingstone as well. He is the brother of Arthur Tucker of Bridgewater, and will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of great friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home (358 Park Street in Stoughton) on Wednesday, November 15, from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian Street, Weymouth, 02190 on Thursday at 10:00 am.
