Thomas J. Hunt

Thomas J. Hunt, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Charlwell House Nursing Home in Norwood after a long period of declining health. He was the husband of 67 years of Mary A. (McGuire) Hunt. Born in Boston he was raised in Roxbury and was a graduate of Mission High School, Class of 1941. Mr. Hunt was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving as a radioman on the USS Marblehead. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1954. Mr. Hunt worked as a salesman and was the owner of H. M. Faust Company in Boston for over 45 years. After his retirement, he worked for the corporate offices of D'Angelo's in West Bridgewater from 1994 to 2002. He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion, Amvets and Disabled American Veterans, all in Stoughton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Thomas K. Hunt of Stoughton, Patricia Dirlam and her husband John of Wellesley, Kevin B. Hunt and his wife Joan of Brockton, William J. Hunt and his wife Lisa of VT, Neil G. and his wife Paula of Reading and Elaine M. Degre and her husband Robert of Norwood. He was the brother of the late John, William, Marguerite Brady and Mary Huntoon. He was predeceased by his grandson Matthew K. Hunt. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton prior to the Mass from 9-10AM. Donations in Tom's memory in lieu of flowers may be to the Matthew K. Hunt '95 Scholarship Fund, BC High, 150 Morrissey Blvd, Boston, MA 02125-3391.
