Thomas F. Casserly, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Sunday, December 26 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the loving husband of the late Sylvia (Gimpel) Casserly. Son of the late William J. and Alice M. (McEntee) Casserly, he was born in Boston. He was a graduate of Whitman Hanson High School, Class of 1942. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1953. Mr. Casserly was in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1962, retiring as a Chief Engineman. He was a Veteran of both World War II, where he served with the Pacific Fleet and the Korean Conflict. After the service he worked in building maintenance at the Stoughton Town Hall for 26 years before retiring 21 years ago. Mr. Casserly was a member of the American Legion Post 89 and the VFW Post 1645 both in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed fixing things and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Casserly is survived by four sons, James L. Casserly and his wife Susan of Pepperell, and his triplet boys, John E. Casserly and his wife Patti of Stoughton, Robert A. Casserly and his wife Maryanne of Middleboro, and Thomas F. Casserly, Jr. and his wife Jane of Hawaii. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew. He was the brother of the late Virginia Studley, Alice Brown and Phyllis Byrnes.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, January 3 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Thomas' memory may be made to the American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
