Terry L. (Tibbetts) Smith

Terry L. (Tibbetts) Smith, 66, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of 28 years to Michael G. Smith. Born in Portland, ME, she was raised and educated in Yarmouth, ME where she was also a longtime resident. Terry was a resident of Stoughton for the past 18 years, previously living in Brockton for 5 years and Chatham for 5 years. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Maine and did coursework towards her Master's Degree at UMass. Terry worked as a teacher at the Weymouth Maria Weston Chapman Middle School and the Brockton Christian School, as well as in Portland and Bath, ME. She was an active member of the First Nazarene Church of Brockton and belonged to the Massachusetts Teachers Association. In her free time, Terry enjoyed writing, weaving, reading, gardening, stamping, crafts and spending time with her family and friends.

Terry was the mother of Jennifer O'Neill and her husband Gregg of RI, Kelly DeAngelis and her husband Steven of Somerville, Kerri Roberts and her longtime companion Willie Doyle of Yarmouth, ME, Jessica Roberts of North Attleboro, Izaiah and Julia Roberts of Stoughton and the late Jonathan Roberts. She was stepmother to Charlotte Mastropasqua of Portland, ME, and Elizabeth Ostergaard of West Bath, ME. Terry was the grandmother of Jake Henrich, Meaghan O'Neill, Kelsey O'Neill, Nicholas Roberts, Steven DeAngelis, Nikoline Ostergard, P.C. Ostergaard, Signe Ostergaard, Tara Clark, and Mandy Mastropasqua. She was predeceased by her parents Clinton Eugene Tibbetts and Mary Louise (Dugas) and is survived by her siblings Michelle Tibbetts of Yarmouth, ME, Gale Tibbetts of Columbia, ME and Brian Tibbetts of Augusta, ME and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, October 14 from 4:00 - 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at the First Nazarene Church, 89 N. Pearl St, Brockton at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 15. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yarmouth, ME on Monday at 12 Noon.
