Steven M. Thompson

Steven Michael Thompson was the second son born to Marilyn and the late Prescott Thompson on February 6, 1958 at Boston City Hospital. He was educated at the Sarah Greenwood Elementary School, The St. Kevin Middle School and graduated from Copley High School in Boston Massachusetts, where he not only received his high school diploma but a certificate in Auto Mechanics from ITT Technical School and Culinary Arts.

At the tender age of four, Steven developed a life threatening infection and chronic disease, which caused renal failure. And although the doctor's initial assessment gave Steven a 10% chance of survival, 4 year old Steven took on the challenge by not only exhibiting courage and determination, but he defied the odds and began what became his life-long fight with the disease. Steven had the mentality of a conqueror and he did not let anything or anyone hold him back.

When the Doctors said he wouldn't likely grow, he grew to almost 6 feet. When they said he shouldn't play sports, he did. When they said he couldn't work and should go out on disability, he worked for Harvard University Security for over a decade. Steven refused to be left behind. He refused to be defined by his circumstance and he made every effort to always defy what others said could or would not happen for him.

Steven was a conqueror with a big heart, wore a big smile, had a big appetite for candy, that came from a big family. And although Steven, who was known by everyone as "Uncle Steve,"- the communal babysitter, he wanted a family of his own. So it was no surprise that when he met the love of his life, Lisa Lovett, he married her on August 29, 1992.

Together, Lisa and Steven began building a life of hopes and dreams with one another. Together they made a home in Randolph Massachusetts and after nine years of marriage, when the Doctors said Steven couldn't have children, the couple was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Candace, who entered this world on August 6, 2001. Steven fell helplessly in love all over again with his baby girl, who became his pride and joy.

On January 27, 2002, Steven accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior and was baptized along with his family. Through the oncoming years, although Steven had several set backs and challenges with his health, he always trusted in Jesus and put his faith in God's ability to strengthen him during each and every challenge. Over the span of 60years, Steven endured four kidney transplants and over 30 years of Dialysis. Amazingly, Steven never complained. He was a conqueror who not only constantly worked through the pain, but he became stronger in spite of it.

On February 16, 2018 Steven fought his final battle with his illness and was called home by his lord and savior Jesus Christ. He leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Lisa Lovett-Thompson, his 16-Year old daughter Candace Thompson and his nephew, Gordon Acha (adopted son); His mother, Marilyn Thompson; Siblings Preston, Harry, Linda and Richard; Sisters in law Cindy, Verna, Robin and Tara; Brothers in law, Lamont & Larry Jones; a Number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of extended family and friends.
