Steven D. Mitchell, 63, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was the husband of Jeanne M. (Charlebois) Mitchell. Born in Brockton, he was educated in Stoughton schools and graduated from Boston Trade High School. Steven was a longtime plumber and owned F. Mitchell & Son Plumbing in Stoughton before retiring several years ago. He loved the Town of Stoughton and was active in many town civic events. Steven was a Town Meeting Member, a past member of the Stoughton Finance Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and was a Republican Town Committee member. He was on the Board of Directors at CW Welch Fish & Game in Stoughton and a member of the Mattamiscontis Club and the Rising Star Masonic Lodge in Stoughton.
In addition to his wife, Steven is survived by his daughter, Erin Whynot of Stoughton and his grandson, Andrew Korsun. He was the brother of Edward Mitchell of Florida. He is also survived by the family dog, Little Missy.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Steven's memory may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
