Stephen John Rowe entered into eternal rest on February 12, 2014 with his loving wife by his side. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Stoughton, he was born in Miami, Florida in 1950 the son of the late Fredrick Rowe and Winnifred Rowe Galiano. He was raised in North Quincy, MA by his step-father, the late John L. Galiano and his aunt and uncle, the late John and Dorothy Henshall. Steve was a 1969 graduate of North Quincy High School and served his country in the Naval Reserves.
He was married to his wife, Nancy Baldwin Rowe, for 37 years. Steve spent his entire 44 year career as a tractor-trailer driver after graduating from New England Tractor Trailer School. He was a 20 year Teamsters Local 25 member working for Signal Delivery Service and Aggregate Industries, both in Boston and retired in 2008 from Roadway, Inc. a member of Teamsters Local 653 in Easton, MA. His co-workers affectionately referred to Steve as "The Gentleman Trucker." In retirement, he drove school buses for First Student in Randolph, MA and became an instructor for new drivers.
A super fan of his beloved Boston Red Sox, Steve and his wife held season tickets for 36 years. He was thrilled to have seen them win three World Championships in his lifetime. Steve loved to travel and completed three cross country drives, many cruises and a trip to his roots in Ireland. He held a private pilot license, was a member of the Stoughton Fish and Game Association and a past member of the Weymouth and Randolph Elks Lodges.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his children, Brian D. Rowe and his wife Samantha of Stoughton, Lauren E. Andrews and her husband Eric of Brockton; his sister, Janet Olsen and her husband Everett of Winchester, MA and Janet's mother, Grandma Mary Rowe; his grandchildren and extended family, Cameron A. Rowe and his mother, Elisabeth Roeglin of DeWitt, Michigan and Willow D. Rowe of Eldon, Iowa; his cousins Jay Henshall and his wife Sandra of Weymouth, MA and Kyle Henshall of Florida and a niece, Laurilee Hughes and her husband Scott of Holbrook, MA.
A memorial service and celebration of Steve's life will be held on February 22, 2014 at 11 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner St., Stoughton, MA.
