Sidney Sherman Kendall, Jr., a resident of East Bridgewater, died peacefully at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury on Sunday, October 27, 2019. He was the husband of 22 years of Janet A. (Gandolfo) Kendall. Son of the late Sidney Sherman and Frank A. (Kelley) Kendall, he was born and raised in Houston, TX. Sherman was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston. He was a Specialist 4 in U.S. Army and a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was permanently disabled. He was a lifelong resident of Houston before moving to East Bridgewater 6 years ago. Sherman was an avid bowler and a member of the American Wheelchair Bowling Association (AWBA). He was also a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) and the Weston Gun Club. He was a longtime member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas. He was an avid hunter, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Sherman is survived by his son, Patrick H. Carrara, III and his wife Jennifer of Stoughton and his step-son, Robert Peters of Anchorage, AK. He was preceded in death by his step-son Brian Carrara. He was the brother of Mary Dawson and her husband Brooks and Anne Hutson and her husband Burke all of LaGrange, TX. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside Service will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne on Monday, November 4 at 1:15 PM. Visiting Hours prior from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton from 10-11:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sidney's memory may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, New England Chapter, 1208 VFW Parkway, Suite 301, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
