Shirley A. (Nota) Conefrey, 75, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Brockton Hospital in Brockton, after a period of declining health. Born and raised in Quincy, she was raised and educated in Quincy and Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School. Shirley was a resident of Stoughton since 1993. Shirley was a dedicated homemaker and mother who later became a teacher’s aide in Brockton for several years. She was a fun loving, kind and compassionate friend to many who loved spending time working in her yard and around her home. She loved nature and enjoyed feeding birds and tending to and watering “her girls”, the plants in her home and yard.
Shirley was the mother of and the late Edward P. Cullen, Jr. and was a mother figure to her longtime friend and neighbor Betty Seaman of Stoughton. She was the sister of Paul M. Nota of FL, Linda M. Rondeau, Diane E. Clinton and John A. Nota, all of Brockton and Priscilla Morrill of MO and the late David Nota. She was predeceased by her husband Edward P. Cullen and her longtime partner Julie A. Dolan. She is also survived by John B. Cullen of NC, 1 grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton in the spring. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Stoughton Council on Aging, POB 582, Stoughton, MA 02072.
