Sheryl J. (Mitchell) Benoit, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Boston Medical Center on Friday, September 4, 2015. She was the wife of Joseph M. Benoit. Daughter of Eleanor (Tucker) Altimar of Natick and the late Clayton Mitchell, she was born and raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1968. Mrs. Benoit was the food service manager for Stoughton Public Schools for 8 years and then a teacher's aide in Stoughton for 10 years before retiring 3 years ago. She enjoyed playing online video games, trips to casinos, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and mother, Sheryl is survived by her children, Heather M. Wilson and her husband Michael of Franklin and William J. Benoit and his wife Lina of Norton. She was the grandmother of Haley and Alyssa Wilson. She was the sister of Joseph Beaudreau of Brockton and Clayton Mitchell of Ohio.
Visiting Hours will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, September 11 from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheryl's memory may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr., Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.
