Sandra C. Stanton

Sandra C. (Allegro) Stanton, 66, a community activist and lifelong resident of Brockton, died Wednesday, June 21, at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a short illness. She was the wife of Frederick M. Stanton. Born in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton Schools and the Brockton School of Business. Mrs. Stanton was active in numerous Brockton area activities. Most notably, she was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Mass. Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mrs. Stanton was active with the Kennedy School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and served as President. She started many activities and programs for the PAC, including the Kennedy School Scholarship, Family Fun Day and Breakfast with Santa. While raising four children, Sandi held several management positions in banking and health services. Active in local politics, Mrs. Stanton was a Delegate to both the State and National Democratic Convention. She was active at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton and a member of the 20th Century Catholic Women's Guild. Mrs. Stanton was a volunteer at the Charity Guild Food Pantry in Brockton and a Neighborhood Volunteer collecting donations for the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. She was also a former BHS Band Booster. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking.

In addition to her husband Frederick, she is survived by her children; Dawn M. Boynton of Easton, Tamara J. Stanton, RN of Easthampton, Capt. Michael B. Stanton, USN of VA and Christopher L. Stanton of Boston. She was the grandmother of Anthony A. J. Boynton.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, June 24 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Donations in Sandi's name may be made to the American Red Cross, 285 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02116. Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
