Sandra L. (Gerstel) Mellett, 66, died Wednesday, December 28, at her home under the care of Old Colony Hospice. She was the lifelong friend of Helen L. Suddard. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Girls Trade High School in Boston. Mrs. Mellett was a resident of Abington for over 10 years, previously living in Randolph for many years. She worked for Rust Craft in Dedham and Khouri Textiles in Jamaica Plain for several years, retiring many years ago. For about 10 years, she sang in the Boylston Congregational Church. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children; Michael J. Mellett, Jr. and his wife Jean of East Bridgewater, Elaine M. Buzzell and her husband Bob of Dedham, James P. Mellett of Whitman, Lori A. Mellett of Holbrook, Kelly J. Curtin and her husband John of Halifax and Deborah L. Harrison and her husband Bruce of Chelsea. She was the sister of James A. Gerstel of Salisbury, Elaine M. Hemenway of Abington, Michael J. Farley of Carver, John L. Farley of Haverhill and the late Linda M. Reed and Nancy L. Toomey. She was the daughter of the late James A. Gerstel, Constance (Parker) Gerstel and Marion Farley. She is also survived by her friends Diane Smith, Sharon Jennings and Judy Giunta and her 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, December 31 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-8 PM. Donations in Sandra'a memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, 02368.
