Sandra L. (McKelligan) Jennings, 72, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at her home in Franklin surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 21, 2014. She was the wife of the late Paul Jennings. Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and Boston State College, earning a degree in education. She was a science teacher at Braintree Junior High School and later a librarian at Massasoit Community College in Canton. A woman who loved working and being with kids, she was known by many names such as Sandy, Mrs. J., Nandy, and Momma Jennings. Her adoring grandchildren called her Nin and it was her most treasured moniker.
Mrs. Jennings loved to read spy and mystery novels and also enjoyed sketching, painting, gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She liked watching football, figure skating and basketball and was an avid fan of the Miami Hurricanes. In her free time she enjoyed traveling anywhere with her kids, especially Florida and Disney World. Mrs. Jennings was a lover of animals and enjoyed music, especially listening and singing to 40's and 50's music, show tunes, gospel and patriotic music.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by her children, Christine A. Crowley and her husband Scott of Wrentham, Keith D. Jennings and his wife Renata of South Boston and Kerry L. Cooper and her husband John of Virginia. Nin's grandchildren are Sean, Nick, Kevin, Brian, Jake and Riley. She was the sister of William McKelligan, Linda Harlfinger and Neal McKelligan and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life at Knollwood Memorial Park Chapel, 321 High St., Canton on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow. Friends and relatives welcomed. Donations in Sandra's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
