Samuel J. Connell, 97, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on Monday, June 29, 2015. He was the husband of the late Helen R. (Kane) Connell. Born in Canton, he was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Stoughton and Stoughton High School. Mr. Connell was a Technician 5th Grade in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of World War II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Stoughton for over 30 years, retiring as a Superintendent.
Mr. Connell is survived by his children, Judith C. Lorusso and her husband Samuel of East Falmouth, Mary Lou Smyth and her husband Timothy of Florida, William J. Connell of Stoughton and Kathleen Connell of South Easton. He was the brother of the late John Connell. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Sam's wishes were for his body to be donated to Harvard Medical School for research and private funeral services will be held at a later date.
