Ruth M. (Crimmins) McDonald, age 94, passed away at Copley at Stoughton on July 7, 2022. Born in Boston, she was the daughter to the late Ruth (Kelly) and Cornelius Crimmins. She was the wife to the late William J. McDonald. She was raised in Stoughton and attended the Jeanne d'Arc Academy in Milton, and then went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Simmons College. She worked at MIT for 2 years. She was a Teacher's Aide for the West School for many years, before retiring in 2005. She was active in church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, as well as a communicant for several years. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, showcasing her skill as a seamstress, all while doing what she loved. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her children, William J. McDonald of Whatley, MA, Daniel H. McDonald and his wife Mary of Peabody, MA, Maureen K. Bernhardt and her husband Frederick of Ashby, MA, Gerald J. McDonald and his wife Ann of Stoughton and Nancy Cunniff and her husband Jack of Weymouth. She is also survived by her sister Joan Gallant of Stoughton. She was the loving grandmother to 9 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 4.
Visitation will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Monday, July 18th from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church at 11 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the St. Anthony's Free Market, c/o Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
