Ruth E. "Betty" (Rogers) Schaffer

Ruth E. "Betty" (Rogers) Schaffer, 66, died unexpectedly on March 2, 2016 at her home in Worcester. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton High School and the Mount Auburn School of Nursing in Cambridge. She was a resident of Worcester for the past two years, previously spending several years in Holland, MA. Mrs. Schaffer most recently worked as a Registered Nurse at the Reservoir Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Worcester. She was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association. An avid traveler, she traveled to Russia, China, Brazil and several other destinations over the past few years. In her free time, she enjoyed photography and working on her computer.

She is survived by her daughter Dawn S. Regan of Topsfield and her siblings; Kathleen A. Bowman of Weymouth, Barbara E. Gorham of SC, Diana L. Doucette and James A. Rogers Jr. both of Canton, Chester I. Rogers of Shelburne Falls and Walter R. Rogers of Holland, MA. She is also survived by two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery, 1100 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Stoughton on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11 AM. All are welcome. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Home Base Foundation, 125 Nashua St, Suite 540, Boston, 02114 or to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Pl., Boston, 02115. Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton.
