Ruth H. (Schaaf) Blake, 96, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was the wife of the late Edward Blake. Daughter of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Brown) Schaaf, she was born in Boston and raised in Jamaica Plain. Mrs. Blake was a graduate of Boston Schools. Ruth was an inspector for Corning Glass in Millis for several years before retiring many years ago. She resided in New Port Richey, Florida for over 30 years before moving to Stoughton over 10 years ago. While in Florida, she served as the Commander of the DAV in New Port Richey and enjoyed volunteering at the nearby Veterans Hospital. Ruth enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world. In her free time, she enjoyed doll making, crafts, painting, ceramics and art.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Steven F. Chaplain and his wife Nancy of Florida and David F. Chaplain and his wife Elizabeth of Stoughton. She was the grandmother of Craig Chaplain and his wife Brenda, Marcy Maloney and her husband Kevin, Arthur Chaplain and his wife Kelly, Steven Chaplain, Jr., Daniel Chaplain, Dawn Johnson, Ann Black and Joseph Chaplain. She was the sister of Florence Hazzard of Stoughton and the late John Schaaf, Marie Tobin, Jane Woodworth, Kate Norton, Dottie McKeon, Avy Dunn, Buddy Schaaf, and Edward Schaaf. She is also survived by many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Tuesday, March 27, at 11AM. Visiting Hours Monday, March 26, from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the DAV, 6711 Jefferson St., New Port Richey, FL 34652.
