Rose M. (DiMatteo) Celi, 99, died Tuesday, August 25 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Celi. Born in Marlboro, she was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Mrs. Celi was a resident of Stoughton for many years, before moving to Cape Cod in 1981. She lived on Cape Cod for over 20 years before moving back to Stoughton. Along with her husband, Rose was the owner and operator of Flowers by Celi in Stoughton for many years before her retirement in 1967. She was a member of the Stoughton Little Theater and the Daughters of Italy both in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed word puzzles and assembling jigsaw puzzles, line dancing, traveling to Florida, playing cards and walking the beach.
She was the beloved mother of the late Joanne Hayes. Mrs. Celi was the sister of the late Dominic DiMatteo, Gertrude Mauro and Anna DiMatteo. She was the devoted aunt of Robert F. DiMatteo and his wife Joan of Stoughton, Frances Ricci and her husband Anthony of RI, Annette Rollins and her husband Royal "Bud" of FL, John Ando of Stoughton, Joan Casabian and her husband Edward of Bridgewater, Eugene Mauro and his wife Carol of Yarmouthport, Eleanor Travers and her husband the late Raymond of Marlboro, Rosemarie Bonitatibus and her husband the late John of Dennis and the late Carmen Ando, Guy Ando and Richard C. DiMatteo. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and her nieces-in-law Judy Ando and Virginia Ando both of Easton, Carole DiMatteo of Marlboro.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, August 29 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
