Rosa Bettencourt e Avila Silveira, 105, a resident of Marshfield, formerly of Stoughton, died peacefully at Bay Path Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Duxbury on Sunday, August 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Joao Maria Bettencourt e Avila and Rosa Sanches e Avila, she was born and raised in Rosais, São Jorge, Azores, Portugal. Rosa was a school teacher in São Jorge for 30 years before moving to Stoughton, where she resided for over 30 years. She worked in the Electronics Department at RCA in Needham for 10 years before retiring at age 62. She resided in Marshfield for 17 years.
Rosa was the mother of Lidia A. Silveira-Silva and her husband Benjamin of Marshfield, Angela Maria de Sousa and her husband Emilio of Gilroy, CA and the late Manuel B. Silveira. She was grandmother of Elizabeth Medeiros, Isabel Roberts, Emilio de Sousa and David Silveira. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers and is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, August 20 at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-5 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
