Ronald H. Bishop, 67, a retired Stoughton Firefighter, died December 25, 2010 at the Brockton Hospital after a short period of failing health. Born in Stoughton, he was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Stoughton Schools and Massasoit Community College. Mr. Bishop was a firefighter in Stoughton for over 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant several years ago. He was a member of Firefighters Local 1512 in Stoughton, the C. W. Welch Preserve and Knights of Columbus both in Stoughton, the Randolph Elks, and the Sons of the American Legion in VT. He also was a member of the Mattamascontis Club in Maine, where he enjoyed spending time. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, cooking, hunting, playing golf and driving around in his truck.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his two children; Timothy S. Bishop of Sandwich and Paula Kimball of Taunton. He was the brother of Paul S. "Boofy" Bishop of Stoughton and the late Jeanne Jefferson, Helen Lapworth and Charles Bishop. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, December 31 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Ronnie's memory may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
