Robert V. Trotta, 96, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died Thursday, May 23, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton, after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Bessie (Pappas) Trotta. Born, raised and educated in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mr. Trotta was a Proud WWII Veteran of the US Navy, being Honorably Discharged in 1946, after serving on the USS Richmond for over 4 years. He worked as an Assembler for Westinghouse in Hyde Park for over 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Stoughton Bowling League, the VFW in Stoughton and the Assembler's Union. Bob enjoyed smoking a good cigar, tinkering around his house and yard and woodworking. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his beloved family.
Mr. Trotta is survived by his three sons; Robert C. Trotta and his wife Ann of Whitman, William V. Trotta and his wife Tamson of Stoughton and Bruce E. Trotta of N. Attleboro. He was the grandfather of Michele DeVito, Marc, Brittany, Shaye, Julia and Cole Trotta. Bob was the great-grandfather of Jack and Clara DeVito and Matthew Trotta. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul J. "Mike" and Louis Trotta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Tuesday Morning from 9-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Obituary and directions at www.farleyfh.com.
