Robert L. Poore

Robert L. Poore, 93, a longtime resident of Rockland, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Brockton Hospital in Brockton. He was the husband of the late Doris (Lundgren) Poore and Dorothy (Hoxie) Poore. Born in Randolph, he was educated in Randolph and East Bridgewater. Mr. Poore was a resident of Rockland for over 35 years, previously living in Easton and Whitman. He worked for many years in Sales for John Hancock Insurance in Brockton and later for the Electrolux Company in Brockton. He was very active in the First Baptist Church in Abington, serving as a Deacon. He was the Past Master of the Paul Dean Masonic Lodge in North Easton.

Bob was a "Jack of All Trades" who loved woodworking, gardening, traveling and being with people. He had a deep devotion to his family, his faith and to his church. He was an avid reader who was very active until recently. One of his great joys was to be on the golf course, but in recent years he was no longer able to do so. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was the father of Robert L. Poore, Jr. and his wife Patricia of NE, Richard A. Poore and his wife Bonnie of Stoughton and Ronald E. Poore and his wife Janice of Whitman. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Shaw, Lillian Grindle, Olive Grindle and Walter Poore. He was the stepfather of Stephen Walcott of E. Bridgewater, Richard Walcott and his wife Patricia of Framingham, Gary Walcott and his wife Virginia of FL, Peter Walcott of CA, Mary Conrad and her husband Donald and Patricia Bisson and her husband Thomas all of Plymouth and the late Willard Walcott. He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander L. & Bernice (Fuller) Poore. He is survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held in the First Baptist Church, 219 Adams St., (Rte 58 at Rte 139) Abington on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11AM. Family and friends are welcome. Visiting Hours omitted. Donations in lieu of flowers, in memory of his wife Dorothy Poore, may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
